so, chris and i have been house hunting for the last three months! we figure this is a great time to get into home ownership. prices are down, interest rates are low, we have some money saved, and there is a great incentive, thanks to president obama, for first time home buyers.
unfortunately there are a lot of other people just like us who have been waiting for the perfect time and the perfect house. dont get me wrong there is a lot of stuff out there to choose from, but the good stuff, the houses that we can move into right away without having to bulldoze half of, get snatched up right away. this previous sunday we put an offer in on a really great house, in an equally great neighborhood. but so did 4 other buyers!!! unfortunatley we didnt get it, but thats ok. i figure its one less buyer to compete with on the next great house. (plus, we get to save just a bit more money)!
